Working Communities Challenge
Launched in 2019, the Working Communities Challenge initiative supports diverse, local teams as they tackle complex challenges facing their communities. With a focus on economic opportunity for communities and residents with low incomes, this unique three-year grant competition is supported by the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, the State of Vermont, national and local philanthropy, and private sector employers.
The White River Valley's Consortium is a new collaboration of 14 towns near the White River in Central-Eastern Vermont, created to address challenges that individual towns can’t fully tackle on their own. The WRVC’s first effort focuses on increasing housing for entry-level workforce and beginning entrepreneurs, which is essential for keeping our young people in our communities, encouraging innovation in our economies, providing a good quality of life, and attracting new residents.
Vital Communities is serving as the fiscal sponsor and hosting the WRVC Project Coordinator, Sarah Danly, who can be reached at sdanly@vitalcommunities.org
